Your first clock-in
Before you bring your team in, clock in and out once yourself. It takes two minutes and answers the question that would otherwise remain open: does what I expect actually come out at the other end?
Step by step
- Open the Dashboard. The time clock with the current time is at the top.
- Click Clock in. The button immediately changes to “Clock out”, and the time runs below it.
- Wait a minute. Feel free to switch pages — the running time continues.
- Click Clock out.
- Open the Timesheet on the left. It shows the entry you just recorded with start, end and the calculated duration.
The result: a time entry with start, end, duration and source. From now on it is part of your working-time record.
What Zeitflex does in the background
- The duration is calculated, not typed. Start and end are points in time; the duration follows from them.
- The statutory break is taken into account. From more than six hours of working time, § 4 ArbZG (German Working Hours Act) applies. More under Recording breaks correctly.
- Nothing is overwritten. A later correction creates a new version; the old one remains visible. That is the difference between a record and a note.
- Clocking in twice is prevented. Anyone who is already clocked in cannot clock in again — not even by tapping on the tablet and the phone at the same time.
Checking that everything is really correct
| Check | Where | What you should see |
|---|---|---|
| Entry present | Timesheet | today’s date, start, end, duration |
| Source correct | Timesheet, Source column | Web, App or Terminal |
| Public holiday recognised | Timesheet on a public holiday | public holiday marker |
| Target/actual filled in | Timesheet | only if a working-time model is assigned |
If target/actual stays empty: that is not an error, but a missing working-time model. Add it in the settings and assign it to the person.
If the button does not respond
- Reload the page. A stuck button is almost always an interrupted connection.
- Check whether you are already clocked in — in that case it says “Clock out”.
- Look in the timesheet to see whether the entry did arrive after all.
- If nothing helps: How to continue recording manually today and then report it via Support.
Still stuck?
The three ways to clock in/out — phone, tablet, browser — are described in detail under Clocking in/out by phone, tablet or browser.
